Dr Barley Rose Collier-Letcher (right) joins the CFP Team as Co-Lead alongside Jess Allan (left).

We were delighted to welcome Dr Barley Rose Collier-Letcher to the Centre for Forest Protection (CFP) team as Co-Lead at the end of September. This appointment follows Jess Allan’s move to a part-time role as she embarks on a PhD with the University of Gloucestershire.

A person wearing a white safety helmet, glasses, and a high-visibility vest stands in a conifer forest holding up four small clear plastic bags containing light brown wood or plant samples. Tall evergreen trees and sunlit woodland vegetation can be seen in the background. The photograph was taken outdoors in natural light.

Barley Rose completed her PhD at the University of Oxford in forest genetics and insect resistance and has worked at Forest Research for a year and a half within the entomology team. She will continue her entomology work part-time alongside her new CFP role.

“I am excited to join the team and use my experience working in tree health to work alongside Jess and continue developing the CFP as a collaborative hub for research to improve tree health and resilience!” – Barley Rose.

We wish Jess every success in her PhD studies and look forward to seeing Jess and Barley Rose work together to lead and strengthen the CFP in the years ahead.
