Working as part of our Investigating Scots pine resilience project team, Daniel undertook lab work, extracting root fragments from soil samples to estimate metrics like root length and surface area to attempt to understand whether root morphology differs between populations, whether adaptation to local climatic conditions explain these differences, and whether rooting can explain tree health outcomes under water stress.
